We are Doing More and More Web Browsing Without a Browser

Reading frequently updated web sites through RSS, rather than through a conventional browser software, is one way that some of the functions we've used the browser for in the last ten years can begin to migrate outwards, into more specialized, more efficient tools. But this is just getting started.

And there are other directions to go. Little article here covers a couple of other tools, including Webstractor. Webstractor strikes me as Something New. It's so new, I can't figure out quite what to do with it . . . yet . . . .
